Abstract

Objective To compare the application of temporary pipe in internal jugular vein versus femoral vein for hemodialysis.Methods One hundred and thirty-five patients with temporary pipe in femoral vein (76 cases) and versus internal jugular vein (48 cases) underwent hemodialysis,parameters regarding catheter indwelling time,catheter use times,blood flow,Kt/v value and complication were compared between two groups.Results The catheter indwelling time,catheter use times,blood flow and Kt/v value of patients in internal jugular vein group and femoral vein group were (41.81 ±10.96) days,(17.17±4.83) times,(230.94 ±20.33) mL/min,1.48 ±0.16 and (27.09 ±9.77) days,(10.46 ±4.13) times,(215.46 ±28.07) mL/min,1.18 ±0.22 respectively,there was significant difference between two groups.The infection,embolism and puncture complication of patients in internal jugular vein group (34.2%,26.3% and 18.4%) were significantly higher than that of femoral vein group (8.3%,6.3% and 10.4%).Conclusion In contrast,the internal jugular vein is a better vascular access for hemodialysis.
