Research Progress of Acupuncture Treatment in Parkinson's Disease

Objective:It summarized research progress on acupuncture treatment of Parkinson's disease for nearly 20 years. Method:The author read and analyzed the recently 20 years related literature to choose point compatibility,method of acupuncture,acupuncture combination,the criteria of efficacy,and the evaluation of the acupuncture curative effect,etc. Results:Acupuncture therapy may have certain curative effect in improving symptoms of Parkinson's disease,reducing drug adverse reaction. It can play a synergistic effect when combined with drugs and rehabilitation treatment. Meanwhile,it has the following disadvantages:(1)Acupuncture prescriptions are so many that it lacks a recognized acupuncture prescriptions. It lacks study about scalp acupuncture combined with the eye acupuncture,eye acupuncture combined with body acupuncture and other prescription efficacy of acupuncture.(2)Study design is not strict enough with regard to randomized,blinded confrontation.(3)Because of the lack of uniform standards of efficacy and efficacy poor reproducibility,it affects the efficacy of credibility.(4)It lacks large samples observed. In the future of the study,we should focus on optimizing and standardizing acupuncture prescription,strengthening evidence-based medical research of the acupuncture treatment of PD,scientifically evaluating its efficacy,exploring all aspects of the mechanism of acupuncture,etc.
