How to Train Learner's Autonomy in Foreign Language Teaching

Abstract

Today, learner autonomy has become a buzzword in foreign language teaching. This paper first explains the concept and different definitions of learner autonomy, then examines how Positivism, Constructivism and Critical Theory connect up with learner autonomy, studies the conditions for learner autonomy, finally makes some suggestions as to how learner autonomy can be promoted in foreign language teaching.
