Abstract

Objective To study the coronary angiographic features of coronary heart disease complicated with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the elderly patients. Methods Fifty elderly patients with coronary artery disease complicated with type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM group) and another fifty elderly patients with coronary heart disease not complicated with diabetes mellitus(control group) received coronary artery angiography and were compared. Results DM group was mainly demonstrated with multivessel disease or multiple stenosis, and control group was mainly demonstrated with single or two vessels disease. The incidences were 78% and 20% of extensive coronary artery disease,88% and 40% of multiple stenosis or vascular occlusion,58% and 26% of triple vessel coronary artery disease, and 14% and 44% of single coronary artery pathological changes in DM group and control group respectively, which showed significant differences between two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Stenosis is more serious in the elderly patients with coronary heart disease complicated with type 2 diabetes mellitus than in those without type 2 diabetes mellitus.
