On Foreignization and Domestication of Cultural Factors in Translation

Translation practice not only concerns the language transference from the source language to the target language, but also involves the handling of the two corresponding cultures. In fact, either foreignization or domestication has its specific significance of existence. To achieve the best possible effect, taking all kinds of restrictive factors into consideration, the translator, based on his specific purpose in translation practice, should flexibly adopt the technique of foreignization and domestication.
