Numerical Simulation Analysis on Tension Enhanced Ability of Three-Rolls Tension Unit

Abstract

The tension adjusting and controlling is an important process in the plate strip production technology.In order to investigate the tension enhanced behavior and tension adjusting ability of three-rolls tension unit in skin pass mill,a numerical simulation model for tension enhanced process of the tension unit was setup with elastic-plasticity finite element method.From the simulation results,the influence of strip thickness,uncoil tension,depress of top tension roll on the amount of tension enhanced by the tension unit was achieved.Taking the simulation results as training samples,a tension enhanced ability prediction model for the three-rolls tension unit based on BP artificial neural network was presented.The prediction results are perfect corresponded with the actual measurement data acquisitive from a skin pass mill and dividing line which makes tension adjusting and quantitative controlling for the tension unit possible.
