Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of real-time ultrasound elastography in diagnosing chronic viral hepatitis caused liver fibrosis quantitatively. Methods 88 patients were scaned with RTE who suffered chronic viral hepatitis, the elastic strain ratio of liver tissue to muscle tissue was measured and compared with pathology via liver biopsy. Results A negative correlation between the elastic ratio and the histological fibrosis stages(Spearman′s correlation coefficient r =-0.815,P 0.01) was detected. In RTE,a high correlation of decreasing elastic strain ratio with increasing stage of fibrosis was observed(P 0.01).As the severity of hepatic fibrosis, the values of elastic strain ratio were declining. With pathological results of S≥2 as a diagnostic significant fibrosis standards, the area under receiver operating characteristic curve of elastic strain ratio was 0.927.The best diagnosis boundary value was 1.10.The sensitivity and specificity of RTE for diagnosing significant liver fibrosis was 86.84 % and 82.00 %,respectively. Conclusion RTE measuring provided a new method for diagnosing liver fibrosis degrees non-invasively,quantitatively and will have good application prospect in the clinical practice.
