Effect of simvastatin therapy on chronic heart failure patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation

Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of simvastatin on inflammatory level and clinical prognosis in patients with chronic congestive heart failure and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation(AF).Methods A total of 66 patients with chronic congestive heart failure and paroxysmal AF were divided into simvastatin group(34 cases) and control group(32 cases).All patients were followed up for 12 months.Results Twelve months after treatment,LVDD,LVEF and hs-CRP significantly improved in the treatment group(P0.05).The recurrence rate of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in the treatment group decreased significantly compared with that in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Simvastatin can reduce the inflammatory reaction,improve cardiac function and decrease the recurrence of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
