An Analysis of the Present Condition of the Course of College Chinese

The Chinese language is enjoying an increasingly high international standing.In China,however,the importance of the improvement of the knowledge of our mother tongue,the Chinese language,is generally ignored.College Chinese,as the first course in humanities to strengthen our mother tongue,is on the way of becoming marginal.This essay points out,from four aspects,the present condition of the course of college Chinese,and offers a tentative analysis of it in order to shed some light on the quest for new ways of reform in the teaching and learning of the course of college Chinese.
