Abstract
Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of color Doppler ultrasound in bone tumors. Methods Twenty-two patients with malignant bone tumors and 27 with benign ones were examined with 2D ultrasound and color Doppler ultrasound. The echo character, distribution of blood flow and hemodynamic changes of blood flow in the lesions were observed. Results The grades differed significantly (P0.01), the peak systolic velocity and end diastolic velocity did not differ (P0.05), but RI differed significantly (P0.01) between the benign group and the malignant group. There were good correlations between the ultrasonographic character and blood flow between the two groups. Conclusion Ultrasonography is a valuable imaging method for diagnosing bone tumors, especially for showing the invasion of soft tissue around the lesion. Color Doppler flow imaging plays an important role in distinguishing the benign tumors from the malignant ones.
