Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of MRI sequence in the etiological diagnosis of-trigeminal neuralgia(TN).Methods Three dimensional-of-flight(3D-TOF) sequence was perfomed in 134 patients with triheminal neuralgia were reconstrueted.judgment was made on if there some vessesl close to the trigeminal nerve. Results 94 cases trigeminal nerves of all 134nerves can be detected offending vessels on MRTA images, the rest 28 were symptomatic.In74.5% cases(79/145) of the symptomatic group the angle between the vessel and the nerve is larger than 45°,in30.1% cases(25/134)in the asymptomatic group the angle is larger than 45°.Conclusion MRI is an useful tool to evaluate the offending vessels of vascular compressive trigeminal neuralgia.
