Abstract
The operation behavior prediction and performance evaluation of embankment on soft soil foundation are one of the key technologies for engineering design. The stresses and deformation behaviors of a geogrid reinforced embankment structure on soft soil foundation in a hydraulic engineering are numerically analyzed by using large geotechnical engineering analysis program FLAC3D.The settlement and lateral deformation of embankment and foundation, stresses and range of plastic zones of embankment, tension stress distributions of geogrid are obtained. The computed results show that reinforcement using geogrid has a good effect for the embankment on soft soil foundation. It can effectively reduce horizontal displacement and range of plastic zones of embankment. But the reinforcement effect is no longer obvious when reinforcements are more than two layers.
