Abstract
Objectives To investigate the clinical application of low-flow sevoflurane inhalation anaesthesia in radical mastoidectomy. Methods Forty patients with chronic suppurative otitis media were divided into isoflurane group(n=20,given isoflurane maintenance anesthesia) and sevoflurane group(n=20,given sevoflurane). We recorded perioperative heart rates(HR) and blood pressure(BP),post-operative recovery time, and occurrence of nausea and vomiting 24 h after operations. Results There was no significant difference in perioperative HR and BP between 2 groups(P0 05).In isoflurane group,post-operative nausea and vomiting scores were 0(9 cases),1(3 cases),2(5 cases),3(3 cases),respectively, and in sevoflurane group 0(16 cases),1(1 case),2(2 cases),3(1 case),respectively, the difference was significant(P0 05).In isoflurane group, the recovery time of automatic respiration, time of initial eyes open, time of intial intercom, recovery time of orientation were 10.3±3.3,11.4±3.5,14.5±6.1,24±6 min, respectively, and in sevoflurane group 5.4±2.1,6.7±1.9,8.5±2.4,17±6 min, respectively, the difference was significant(P0.05).Conclusions The recovery time of sevoflurane inhalation anesthesia is shorter and has fewer side effects than that of isoflurane.Low-flow sevoflurane anesthesia can be applied safely and effectively in mastoidectomy.
