Abstract
The experiments of seed production of table waxy corn hybrid Huyunuo No.1 under different planting densities were carried out in the Northwest of China in order to get high seed yield under rational close planting. The results showed that there was a very significant difference between seed yields under different planting densities, and within some extent of planting density the seed yield increased with the planting density increasing, assuming a quadratic curve. The regression analysis showed that the optimum planting density of seed production for Huyunuo No.1 was 7415 plants/666.7m 2. The plant height and ear height increased with the density increasing, but the stem diameter slightly decreased, the ear varied less and no plant lodged under high planting density, which indicates that the female parent of Huyunuo No.1, Shen-W 22 has a good tolerance to high density, and the high seed yield can be obtained under rational close planting.
