Abstract
AIM To investigate the effects of irbesartan combined with enalapril on the blood pressure,the level of plasma soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1) and activity of plasminogen activitor inhibitor-1(PAI1) in spontaneous hypertensive rats(SHR).METHODS Forty SHR were randomly divided into irbesartan group(SHR-I),enalapril group(SHR-E),irbesartan-enalapril group(SHR-IE)and control group(SHR-C).Ten Wistar-Kyoto(WKY) rats were arranged into normal group.The blood pressure and activities of sICAM-1 and PAI-1 were measured before and after treatment.RESULTS The significant results(P0.01) of the blood pressure were: three treatment groups lower than SHR-C group and two single drug groups higher than SHR-IE group.All SHR groups hiegher than WKY group.The levels of sICAM-1 and PAI-1 of three threatment groups and WKY group were significant lower than SHR-C group(P0.01).The levels of sICAM-1 of treatment groups were significant higher than WKY group(P0.01) and two single drug groups higher than SHR-IE group(P0.01).CONCLUSION Irbesartan and enalapril can decrease the blood pressure and activies of sICAm-1 and PAI-1.The combined treatment of the two drugs can produce better results on them except PAT-1than single drug treatment.
