Treatment of ureteral stones by pneumatic lithotriptor with ureteroscope

Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of pneumatic lithotripsy under ureteroscope for ureteral calculi.Methods The data of 40 cases with ureteral stones treated by lithotripsy with ureteroscope were summarized retrospectively.Results Among the 40 cases,37 cases were treated successfully,the success rate being 92.5%(37/40).Ureteral perforation happened during the procedure in 1 case(2.5%),requiring a double-J tube placement.No serious complications occuryed,such as ureteral mucous avulsion and injuries of neighboring organs.Conclusion Treatment of ureteral stones under ureteroscopic method is effective,minimally invasive and safe.It should be the first choice of treatment for middle and lower ureteral stones.
