Abstract
N,N'-dinitropiperazine(DNP)was used to replace RDX in RDX-composite modified double base(CMDB) propellant, and the influences of DNP content, combustion stabilizers(CaCO3,TiO2,MgO and Al2O3)and combustion catalysts(Pb salt,Pb salt/Cu salt/Carbon black)on the combustion characteristics of DNP-CMDB propellant were studied. Results showed that the burning rate of CMDB propellants containing DNP could be decreased obviously. The burning rate of CMDB propellant at the pressure of 18.0MPa was reduced by 68% when RDX in the propellant was completely replaced by DNP.The pressure exponent of the DNP-CMDB propellants could be reduced obviously by the addition of Pb salt/Cu salt/Carbon black catalysts and there were plateaus in some pressure ranges for the combustion of the propellant.
