Abstract

Graft copolymerization of TDI onto ramie fibers has been studied using ramie yarn and mercerized degummed ramie as starting materials. The graft copolymers were investigated using FT-IR,UV and DSC.Experimental results show that the optimum reaction conditions of grafting are TDI 2 mL per gram ramie fibers,H_2SO_4 as catalyst, temperature 60 ℃ and time 10 h.On the same conditions, the grafting ratio and yield of alkali-treated ramie as raw material are more high. The graft copolymers are synthesized by oneNCO of the TDI functional groups reacts on ramie.
