Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical diagnostic value of determination of serum CEA,CA19-9 and CA242 levels in patients with colorectal cancer. Methods Serum levels of CEA,CA19-9 and CA242 in 100 cases of colorectal carcinomas and 30 cases of benign colorectal diseases were determined by using electro-chemiluminescence immunoassay(ECLIA).Results The results showed that the serum levels of CEA,CA19-9 and CA242 were significantly higher in the colorectal carcinoma group than those in the benign colorectal diseases group(P0.01).Serum CEA,CA19-9 and CA242 levels increased significantly as the disease stage advanced from Duke A through Duke D. As the malignancy of the growth advanced from well-differentiated to anaplastic, the serum CA19-9 and CA242 levels increased significantly while the reverse was true for serum CEA level. Conclusion Serum CEA CA19-9 and CA242 levels were closely related to the disease process in patients with colo-rectal cancer, which maybe helpful to diagnose colo-rectal cancer.
