Abstract

Five rice varieties were planted in early cropping and later cropping in Liuzhou City from 2005 to 2007,to study the biomass production of different rice varieties. The results showed that the biomass production of different rice varieties had some similarities at different stages, and the heading to milk stage was the key stage of yield formation. Moreover, the grain yield of the late rice Xinfeng Liangyou 6 in 2005 and the early rice Fuyaomei 3 in 2007 was the highest, respectively. These two rice varieties had higher leaf area index, net assimilation rate and growth rate of population, which resulted in high grain yield. Therefore,in order to increase the yield of rice, the application of nitrogen fertilizer and growth duration should be delayed, the management of rice should be strengthened at middle-later stage to increase the accumulation of dry matter and grain yield of rice.
