Abstract
Objective To study PH, PaO 2, PaCO 2 in arterial blood gas and PEF, FEV1% in pulmonary function of patients with moderate to severe asthma treated by noninvasive ventilation. Methods Thirty-six cases of severe asthma were divided into two groups. One group was treated by drugs (control group), the other group were treated by noninvasive ventilation and the drugs (experiment group). The comparison was made on the changes of PH, PaO 2, PaCO 2 in the arterial blood gas before and after the treatment between the two groups. And also the changes of FEV1% and PEF in pulmonary function before and after treatment and between the two groups.Results Significant differences were found in the experiment group of the improvement of PH and PaO 2 FEV1% and PEF in pulmnary function and the decreased value of PaCO 2 before and after the treatment, compared with the control group (P0.05). Conclusion The use of noninvasive ventilation in treating moderate to severe asthma can improve arterial blood gas and pulmonary function.
