Reform and Innovation in Teacher Education: An Overview of the Symposium in 2007

The 3rd International Forum on Teacher Education was successfully held in the Academic Exchange Center of East China Normal University on 14-16 November 2007, Shanghai, China. This paper represents an overview of central and sub-themes of this forum, analyses the hot topics which policy makers, international organizations, research scholars and teachers are all concerned about, and explores the new models and trends in the area of international teacher education: policy support of teacher education innovations; development of teacher professional standards; innovative practice of international teacher professional development, and finally provides some enlightenment for our teacher education reform and development research.
