Abstract
Objective To investigate the BMD and the incidence of osteoporosis(OP)in normal people in Liaoning Province of China, and provide scientific basis for diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. Methods 2300 random samples were obtained from healthy adults in Liaoning Province.Their BMD of L 2-4 and upper femur were measured by dual energy X ray absorptiometry(DEXA),then statistically analyzed. Results The peak value of BMD appeared during 20 to 29 years of age in every groups and BMD decreased with age During 50 to 59 years of age,the BMD of females dropped obviously, especially in Ward's area.In the age group of 60-69 years, the incidence of osteoporosis in Ward's area was 27% in men,and 46 8 in women. Conclusion BMD decreases with age,and the incidence of osteoporosis increases with age. The incidence of OP in females is higher than that in males.
