Innovation is a world trend, a contemporary issue. Theoretical innovation is the forerunner of all kinds of innovations. Jiang Zeming has emphasized the importance of theoretical innovation many times. Innovation is our historical mission endowed by our times, it's the best way to develop and boom Marxism philosophy and social sciences. Therefore, this paper discusses from the following points: 1.theoretical innovation is the historical mission endowed by our times; 2.the connotation of theoretical innovation; 3.innovation is the requirement for developing Marxism and any other scientific theory; 4.innovation is the only way to develop and prosper philosophy and social sciences; 5.how to encourage theoretical innovation.
