Control Study on Efficacy of Jieyu Pill and Paroxetine in Treating Dysthymia

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy,adverse reaction and safety of Jieyu pill(JYP)in treating Dysthymia.Methods 60 patients were randomized into the treatment group(30 patients) treated with Jieyu Pill and the control group(30 patients) treated with Paroxetine.The efficacy of treatment was evaluated 12 weeks after treatment with Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD),self-rating scale for depression(SDS),self-rating scale for Anxiety(SAS),and the adverse reaction was assessed by TESS.Results There was no significant difference between the two groups in scores assessed by HAMD,SDS and SAS(P0.05),and there was no significant difference between the two groups in clinical efficacy(P0.05).However,the adverse effects of JYP were significantly fewer than those in the Paroxetine group.Conclusion JYP is similar to Paroxetine in efficacy but has fewer adverse effects than Paroxetine in treating Dysthymia.
