Abstract
Objective:To explore the causes of accidental poisoning in children and to find the preventive measures. Methods:A retrospective study was carried out in 614 cases of poisoning treated in our hospital during 2000-2007.Results:The poisoning was most often observed in children of 1-6 years of age(72.80%),and the predominating cause was taking the wrong medicines(69.54%).Conclusions:Parents should offer more supervision to children and put aside drugs and toxic substances in proper places. They should also acquire some common knowledge about the use of medicine and help the children tide over the period of doubt.
