Hydraulic model comparative study between H-type tundish and T-type tundish

Abstract

By water simulation experiments on tundish dam and weir, the optimal design of dam and weir has been determined,Which is compared with the widespread use of T-type tundish through water simulation experiments. The characteristics of flow fields of both tundish have been individually analyzed. Researches show that: liquid in the H-type tundish was more stable than in the T-type tundish, when the distance of baffles was130 mm, the height of top baffles and bottom baffles was 87.5 mm and 52.5 mm, the flow condition was best,dead volume was smaller than that in the T-type tundish, under the condition which complies with the requirements for the process parameters, increase the volume of tundish was beneficial to extended the residence time.
