Abstract
Objective: To analyze clinically cosmetic results of two methods of incision in regional parotidectomy. Methods: 40 cases of parotid gland tumor in the elderly patients were divided into two groups randomly. All patients were performed partly parotidectomy with post madible incision in group one and routine S -shape incision in group two respectively. Follow-up was carried out from 1week to 2 years post operation to observe the treatment result. Results: There were less tissue reaction, less time of recovery, less scar and more beautiful outlook and more satiafaction in group one than those in group two(P 0.05). There was no difference on relapse rate and incidence of partial facial nerve injury between two groups (P 0.05). Conclusion: The trauma and some post complications were reduced in the new technique. This surgical approach presented could achieve a better facial cosmetic result in the parotid gland surgery.
