Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of Acitretin in the treatment of psoriasis and the influence to the cytokine in the serum of patients with psoriasis. Methods Detect the serum levels of STCP-1 by ELISA and GM-CSF by RIA before and after treatment with the administration of Acitretin to the different stagings patients with psoriasis, the PASI were also evaluated. Results The total response rate of Acitretin for psoriasis vulgaris was 82.85%.Before treatment, serum STCP-1 and GM-CSF levels were elevated in the psoriasis group compared with that of the healthy control group(P0.01),serum STCP-1 and GM-CSF levels were also elevated in psoriatic patients active stage compared with that of regressive stage(P0.01). After treatment with Acitretin, sreum STCP-1 and GM-CSF levels were reduced(P0.05,P0.01). There was a positive correlation between serum GM-CSF levels and psoriasis PASI scores(r=0.421,P0.05) but no correlation between serum STCP-1 levels and psoriasis PASI scores(r = 0.244,P 0.05). Conclusion Acitretin shows a good clinical effect for psoriasis vulgaris.Serum STCP-1 and GM-CSF play a important role in pathogenesis of psoriasis.
