Discerning on Buddhism in HAN Yu’s Poetry: Remarking on the Transitional Meaning of HAN Yu’s Poetry to the Development of Poetry’s Style from Tang Dynasty to Song Dynasty

The HAN Yu Phenomenon is a perplexing case. The profound paradox in itself has become an odd sight in the history of Tang Poetry. Han Yu assigns himself to argue against Buddhism and Taoism, but there is a profound and obscure tangle with Buddhism in his blood, and that’s a wavering attitude between acceptance and violation in his “declaration”and “behavior”. After derogated, especially to the south, HAN Yu comes to believe in Buddhism and that’s a typical example of “getting pleasure from Buddhism only after derogation”. Han considers himself as belonging to the “Confucians”, and his theory and his arrangement of the “Confucians” family are also illuminated by the New ChanZong’s “different sermon” and the inheritance of the ancestors with “Yibo”; HAN Yu’s theory of “writing poetry with prose style”created with his unique talent benefits directly from Buddhism theory and the translation of Buddhism theory; From Tang Poetry characterized by “affection” to have “perfect taste” to Song Poetry characterized by “rationality” to have “perfect meaning”, Han poetry is the sensible transition between them.
