Clinical Observation of Transrectal Ultrasound Guided Prostate Biopsy of 428 Cases

Objective To explore the role of transrectal ultrasound guided biopsy on the diagnosis of prostate cancer.Methods A retrospective analysis was performed in428 patients with suspected prostatic cancer.Results 144 cases(33.6%) were diagnosed with prostate cancer,213 cases(49.8%) were prostate hyperplasia,53 cases(12.4%) were prostatitis,13 cases(3.0%) were prostate atypical hyperplasia,3 cases prostate neoplasis,2 cases were prostate tuberculosis.Meanwhile several complications occurred after prostate biopsy: 82 cases of hematuria(19.2%),35 cases of bloody stool(8.2%),18 cases of fever(4.2%,1 case developed to septicemia),15 cases of acute urinary retention(3.5%),2 cases of severe massive hemorrhage).Conclusion The biopsy guided by transrectal ultrasound is accurate and has few complications.
