Abstract

For a long time,language has been regarded as a simple and transparent medium objectively representing the world.But according to Critical Discourse Analysis(CDA),language has complicated inter-constructedness with politics,social norms,beliefs and cultural values.This paper starts with the definition and main principles of CDA,and then analyzes the functions of such language forms as transitivity,metaphors,connotative meanings, intertextuality,presupposition,the signified and signifiers in critical discourse reading.
