Abstract
【Objective】To study relations between inflammation and atherosclerosis in the type 2 diabetic rats. 【Method】The model of type 2 diabetic rats were made by. After two month, the blood samples were collected to examine. With the help of microscope, we observed how atherosclerosis occurred and examined expression of inflammatory factors in the blood and artery walls. 【Results】 The fasting plasma glucose (FPG), fasting plasma insulin (FINS), HomaIR, the total cholesterol (TC), plasma triglycerides (TG) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) of the diabetic rats were significantly increased (P0.01, P0.05), while insulin action index (IAI), HomaCI and the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) greatly declined in comparison with the normal control (P0.01, P0.05). The TNF-α, IL-6, CRP, PAI-1 of the diabetic rats were much higher than the normal control (P0.01, P0.05). The expression of TNF-α, IL-6 in the artery walls of the diabetic rats were much more higher than the normal control (P0.01). With the help of microscope, the formation of artery fatty streak-lesions and vaculation cells, transformation and transference of smooth muscle cell as well as the formation of fibrous caps could be observed. 【Conclusion】Since we could observe that there were typical characteristics of atherosclerosis in the diabetic rats, we may conclude that inflammation was involved in the development and formation of diabetic atherosclerosis.
