Abstract
The four nuclear scriptures of A-han Bu(阿含部)in Chinese mediaeval Buddhist scriptures have great values on Ancient Chinese research. There appeared a lot of new words, new meanings and difficult words which can remedy some defects of Hanyu Da Cidian(汉语大词典)and The Big Buddhism Glossary(佛学大辞典)and Ci Yuan(辞源).These words and meanings have two main characteristics: firstly, colloquial and dialect words came to be widely used, which might be closely conerned with buddhas’purpose of gaining the masses;secondly, there appeared more buddhist Chinese words, which made Chinese disyllables be more widely used and accelerated Chinese disyllabicd evelopment.
