Abstract
The arbitrariness theory of language signs proposed by Saussure is severely challenged by the study of language iconicity in recent years.Many principles of iconicity are reflected at every level of language,of which the sign iconicity principle serves as an important cognitive means in word order arrangement,pragmatic and stylistic analyses.
