Abstract
Objective: To research the roles of hypoxia- inducible factor- 1α( HIF- 1α),Twist and Vimentin in invasion and metastasis of cervical cancer by detecting the expressions of HIF- 1α,Twist and Vimentin in cervical cancer and their relationships with pathological characteristics of cervical cancer. Methods: Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression levels of HIF- 1α,Twist and Vimentin in 78 patients with moderate and advanced cervical cancer, their relationships with pathological characteristics of cervical cancer and the interrelationship among the three indexes were studied. Results: The positive expression rates of HIF- lα,Twist and Vimentin in 78 patients with cervical cancer were 69. 2%( 54 /78),71. 8%( 56 /78) and 38. 5%( 30 /78),respectively. The expressions of HIF- lα,Twist and Vimentin in cervical cancer were closely correlated with FIGO stage, lymph node metastasis and differentiation degree. The expressions of HIF- lα,Twist and Vimentin increased gradually with the increase of FIGO stage and the emergence of lymph node metastasis; the expressions of HIF- lα and Twist increased gradually and the expression of Vimentin decreased gradually with the decrease of differentiation degree, there were positive correlations among the three indexes( P 0. 05). Conclusion: HIF- 1α is correlated with invasion and metastasis of cervical cancer, which might take effect through upregulating Twist and Vimentin.
