On New Concepts in Aesthetic Education from the Duality of Popular Aesthetic Culture

The popular aesthetic culture has much positive impact on human life and cultural construction. That is to say, the most extensive plebeianism and public participation have cleared up the ideological mode of conveying philosophical thoughts in the traditional Chinese culture and have highlighted the perceptual features, thus having enriched life amid recreational exhilaration and pastimes. Nevertheless, priority should be given to the negative backwash of the popular aesthetic culture, which is characterized by its excessive pursuit for sensuous gaiety and hedonism, and its desalination and loss of rationality to the effect of misleading value concepts. The new task in the present aesthetic education should centre on boosting perceptual education and enhancing students' noble interest.
