An Analysis on Characteristics of Floating Population Distribution in Shanghai by Means of Accumulation Index

Proposing a method to describe the floating population accumulation de- gree byaccumulation index,the paper analyses the spatial characteristic of the floating population accumulation with the data from the fifth census of population in Shanghai with SPSS and GIS,and reveals the spatial distribution characteristic of floating population in Shanghai.The analysis result indicates that the spatial distri- bution characteristics of floating population are bothring-likeandspoke-like. And the society distribution characteristic is that,the spatial distribution of floating population has a high relevance on the spatial distribution of the workers in the city's inhabitants,the people with the education level of junior middle school or lower,and the people of 25-44 years old.This paper maintains that the floating population intensifies the difference degrees of city factors in social classes,educa- tion level and structure of age by entering the city.
