Abstract

Two strains of avian leukosis virus(ALV) and one strain of rous sarcoma virus(RSV) in primary chicken embryo fibroblasts(CEFs) were detected by RT-PCR.In developed ALV-RSV RT-PCR,viral RNA of three strains was isolated and amplified using three sets primers specific for ALV gp85 env gene. The specificity of the method was demonstrated using several unrelated avian RNA and DNA viruses and the sensitivity of the assay was determined by detecting different amounts of ALV.This system provides a rapid, specific and sensitive in vitro method for the detection of ALV and RSV as an extraneous agent in the seeds of avian viruses and the avian vaccines.
