Abstract
Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate is prepared without solvent by transesterification with dimethyl-o-phthalate and 2-ethyl hexanol as raw materials and organic tin as catalyst. The influences of reaction temperature and time, amount of catalyst used, molar ratio of raw materials on the yield of the product are studied. The optimal conditions are as follows:reaction temperature 170~180℃, catalyst used 1.0g,reaction time 3.5h,molar ratio of dimethyl-o-phthalate to 2-ethyl hexanol 1∶2.10. Under the condition the yield of the product is up to 96.5%. The structure of the product is characterized by refractive index,IR and ~1 H NMR.
