Abstract
Objective To observe the effects of Dihuang compound on learning and memory and apoptosis of hippocampus cells in Alzheimer' s disease (AD) rats. Methods AD pathological model was made by stereotactic mini injection of quinolinicacid(QA) into hippocampal CA1 area, the rat′ s learning and memory functions were evaluated by Morris water maze, the apoptosis of hippocampal cells was detected by using Tunnel, flow cytometry and electronic microscope. Results Dihuang compound(DC) was shown to improve the learning and memory deficiency in rats with bilateral hippocampal lesions induced by QA and to decrease apoptosis rate in hippocampal cells significantly. Conclusion Protective effects of Dihuang compound on AD rats may be related to its ability to decrease apoptosis rate of hippocampal cells.
