Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship of gene polymorphism of aldosterone synthase(CYP11B2) gene with essential hypertension(EH) in Chinese population, and the relationship of gene polymorphism of aldosterone synthase (CYP11B2) gene with plasma aldosterone (pAldo) levels in hypertensive patients. Methods Study was conducted using PCR-RELP techniques to explore the relation between aldosterone synthase gene polymorphism and essential hypertension in 204 subjects. The plasma aldosterone (pAldo) levers was measured by radioimmunoassay (RIA) in 106 subjects with EH.Results Both TT and CT were major frequent genotypes. There was no significant association between aldosterone synthase gene polymorphism and EH in the group of 204 Chinese individuals(P0.05).Significant differences of plasma aldosterone (pAldo)levers are founded among the TT,TC and CC genotypes in EH population(P0.01).Conclusions No significant association was observed for aldosterone synthase allele status and essential hypertension in Chinese Han population. The plasma aldosterone (pAldo)levers were associated with aldosterone synthase gene polymorphism in Chinese Han people with EH,and the -344C allele was associated with higher(P0.05) plasma aldosterone levels.
