Study of Nourishing Yin and Clearing Heat Method on Cough Variant Asthma

Objective:To evaluate the effect of nourishing yin and clearing heat method on cough variant asthma (CVA).Methods:68 cases of CVA were divided randomly into two groups.The treatment group was used nourishing yin and clearing heat decoction.The control group was given theopylline sustained release capsules.After 4 weeks,the symptoms and the airway responsiveness of these patients were investigated.Results:The total effective rate of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group.There were obvious improvements in cough,itching throat,expectoration and some other symptoms in two groups.But these ameliorations in treatment group were superior to that in control group.There were significant differences of therapeutic effects and symptoms scoring in two groups.The Dmin was obviously increased and sGrs decreased in both groups,but there was obvious difference between treatment group and control group.After 3 months,6 relapse cases in treatment group were remarkable lower than 14 cases in control group.Conclusion:Method of nourishing yin and clearing heat possesses a good clinical effect for CVA.It may be decreasing bronchial hyperesponsiness by anti-inflammatory in allergic airway.Moreover,the treatment group is better than the control group in long-term effect.
