Abstract
Parents and progeny were P1(edible seed watermelon)and P2(high sugar watermelon for flesh),progeny included F1,F2 and F1back cross with parents were used to study on genetic characteristics of sugar content watermelon fruit(sucrose, glucose and fructose). The results indicated that fructose and glucose content were quantitative traits controlled by multiple genes. One pair of dominant or incomplete dominant major genes determined low level of sucrose content. There were several pairs of genes determined a high or a low level of sucrose content.
