Abstract

While traditional theories regard syntax as an autonomous formal system,cognitive grammar claims the inseperability of syntax and semantics.In this framework,meaning is a cognitive phenomenon and must be eventually be analyzed as such.Language structure and language usage can be explained with reference to the processes underlying human conceptualization and communication.
