Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of endostatin(ES) in placenta from patients with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy(ICP).Methods:The expression of ES in 25 placentas from normal pregnancy(control group) and 25 placentas from ICP(ICP group) was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results:The distribution of ES in placenta was found similar for both control and ICP groups in villous trophoblast, blood vessels and stroma.Rating ES expression as light, moderate and strong, the incidences were 28%,36% and 36% in ICP group and 32%,56%,and 12% in control group, respectively. The level of ES was significantly higher in ICP group than that in control group(P0..01).Conclusion:The increase of ES in placenta from ICP may be related to inadequate blood vessel formation and abnormal invasion of trophoblast and may play a role in the cause of ICP.
