Abstract

There is a large stele in the Great Puen Temple in Xijing city of Liao and Jin dynasties. The tablet inscription was written by Zhuhui, the grandfather of the famous theorist Zhuxi in Nansong dynasty, while both the stele and the person are famous for each other. The historical stories in the inscription are very moving. It has recorded the serious disaster made to the temple during the war betweem Jin and Liao at the end of Liao dynasty, the whole course of the reestablishment with the efforts of Great Master Yuanman, and the buildings rebuilt in Jin dynasty. Moreover, it has recorded Zhuhui’s detailed experience of being detained in Xijing city by the Jin people for seventeen years. So it reflects the real history of the period of time and embodies high historical and cultural values.
