Abstract

【Objective】 To contrast temperature changes in patients with different ages following artificial joint replacement.【Methods】 Totally 114 cases patients with artificial whole joint replacement were selected.Temperature was measured on the day before operation and the day of operation to the seventh day after operation at 6 AM,10 AM,2 PM and 6 PM.The patients were divided into the younger group(≤60 years) the elder group(60 years). The mean temperature and the highest temperature were compared.【Results】 There was a significant difference in the mean temperature on the second and the third day after operation between the younger group and the elder group(P 0.05).There was a significant difference in the amount of WBC on the third day after operation between the two groups(P 0.05).【Conclusion】 The mean temperature of the younger group is higher than that of the elder group on the second and the third day after operation. The amount of WBC of the elder group is higher than that of the younger group on the third day after operation.
