Abstract

The research on modernity of ZHANG Ai- ling's novels develops a new way for research on ZHANG Ai- ling. By reading“ Einghteen Springs in this way ,we conclude that it is not only a common folk story,but also a story of new legend in a special sense.In the course of creating the story,ZHANG Ai- ling's unique descriptive method and style and her unigue awareness of“ old China and modernity are completely shown.
