Abstract
Aluminum alloy wheel is modeled using Pro/Engineer,taking 16x7J automotive aluminum alloy wheel for research, according to fatigue bending test,by considering the effect of bolts and flange, the whole model of wheel can be built using ANSYS Workbench. The wheel models with different sizes are constructed using wheel rim thickness. With the analysis on FEA calculation results, the distribution of stress and strain are founded. The wheel's fatigue life can be forecasted by improved Smith equation, according to life forecast, the wheel's life can still reach the national standard requirements by decreased the thickness of wheel rim 1mm.The research shows that the method can reduce cost and wheel weight, save fuel and energy conservation.
